Our history.

  • 1860

Fuller Battery was founded in 1860 when John C. Fuller patented improvements in the manufacture of electrical batteries. As a result of the success of John’s battery invention, in 1875 he formed the firm which became John C. Fuller and Son.

  • 1900

Leonard Fuller invented the Block Accumulator, this was used by the railways. John C. Fuller and Son continued making primary batteries into 1915, including the Dry Cell along with a later development called the Inert Cell, which was more durable for use in hot countries.

  • 1919

John had four companies, John C. Fuller and Son, Fuller Accumulator Co., Fuller’s Wire and Cable Co. and Fuller’s Carbon and Electrical Co. These were then all brought together in a public company to form Fuller’s United Electric Works Ltd.

  • 1926

Fuller United Electric Works Ltd. was in liquidation, this was when Fuller Accumulator Co purchased the interests of the company.

  • 1992

Fast forward to the 90’s and the quality of leisure and starter batteries in the market was in decline. The then managing director of County Battery Services, Richard Fuller was frustrated with poor quality product and decided to have batteries built to his own specification. County Battery Services purchased the Fuller name from Chloride and the quality brand was released back into the market.

  • 1993

County Battery started to refurbish worn out NiCd and NiMh power tool batteries, the repairs were a side revenue scheme for County Battery.

  • 2010

County Battery added the refurbishment of Lithium-ion E Bike batteries to its services. This service was more complex than the NiCd and NiMh repairs.

  • 2018

Richard and his son Isaac Fuller travelled to Japan to study the Toyota Production System with American author Paul A. Akers.

After this trip, Isaac was promoted to operations manager and with help from his team, implemented high levels of quality control into the repair center.

  • 2019

It wasn’t long before manufacturers of electrical equipment started looking to County Battery for their help in building bespoke prototypes of NiMh and Lithium batteries.

Soon after this, County Battery was approached by companies in the UK, Europe and Asia to service and repair defective batteries that had been imported.

  • 2022
